Cue the Righteous Indignation
Folks are upset with Elon Musk for spending $42 billion to purchase Twitter. How dare he spend that much money in an attempt to create a true free speech platform when there are bigger problems in the world.
CUE THE RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION.
But NO ONE seems to care that Jack Dorsey is worth $7.3 billion. And he WAS Mr. Twitter.
No one seems to care that Bill Gates is the number one owner of farmland in the United States. He owns almost 300,000 acres of farmland in 19 states and is still buying. It's a lot of land for one private individual to own, but no one seems to worry about it.
Amazon's Jeff Bezos bought the Washington Post in 2013. The purchase transferred the newspaper and other assets from the WaPo to Bezo's private investment company. <crickets>
Members of Congress leave office as multi-millionaires on a $175K salary. NOBODY questions it.
Speaker of the House Pelosi is pulling in appx $1,000,000 a month according to Forbes and no one is screaming, "WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN?"
But Elon Musk secures backing to purchase Twitter, a platform known to ban or "limit" speech and ideas if they aren't the "right" speech and ideas, in the hopes of turning it into a free speech platform and people lose their minds.
I guess some people consider free speech ONLY the speech they agree with.
